May the 4th be with you… this April wrap-up is coming a little late, but thanks for tuning in!
Monthly Wrap is my monthly post about the things I’m loving, find interesting, or just feel like sharing. In other words, whatever happens to be taking up space in my brain. Here’s where my head has been recently:
The Fifth Season
I am currently reading The Fifth Season, by N. K. Jemisin. This unique fantasy novel explores grief, oppression, and survival in a world that is ending. I highly recommend this Hugo winner!
Lost in Space
I watched Netflix’s new Lost in Space reboot. Overall I enjoyed it. Read my full review here.
Bookstagram
I’ve been dedicating more of my NYD Instagram page to book still life photography. Check it out and follow me here.
Howard’s End
I watched Starz’s four-part miniseries Howard’s End, adapted from E. M. Forster’s classic novel, first published in 1910. My feelings on the show are a bit of a mixed bag, but I loved the characters, especially sisters Margaret and Helen Schlegel, the story’s heroines. The two women represent independent, freethinkers of their time. The show started out strong as the sisters examine the world around them, aiming for idealism with their charming enthusiasm.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
I’ve been going down the rabbit hole recently, getting into all things Wonderland! I’m rereading Lewis Carroll’s classic and about to begin Through the Looking-Glass.
