As a sucker for words and adamant believer in judging a movie by its title (ditto books and pretty much everything else), I decided a good way to kick off this blog was to list my favorite film titles:
- Close Encounters of a Third Kind – It’s just… perfect
- The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance – A western gem with a great title
- Blade Runner – This title was taken from a book that the movie was not based on by Alan E. Nourse. The book it was actually based on has a pretty great title as well, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sleep?
- Jaws – A small word that says so much
- Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy – Yeah, this one’s title credit comes from the book… I don’t care.
- Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner – A title that almost mocks anyone who might challenge the progressive subject matter for the time
- Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – Pretty much sums it up
- THX 1138 – George Lucas’ first feature and a great low-budget sci-fi
- O Brother, Where Art Thou? – The Cohen brothers classic adaption of The Odyssey
- The Terminator – Such an 80’s title, such an 80’s film
