Immersion, by Aliette De Bodard, won the 2012 Nebula Award and 2013 Locus Award for Best Short Story. Originally published in Clarkesworld Magazine, this short story is about the effects of technology on society. In this world, Longevity Station to be exact, people wear immersers, a piece of technology where you can control what you look like on the outside, but risk losing who you really are on the inside.
