Christmas is already just a week and a half away. Luckily I’ve done most of my shopping, in hopes to avoid last minute holiday stress. There are a lot of exciting items out there for us consumers, especially the nerdy ones, like me. Here’s a list of items I’m hoping to get, giving, or coveting this year.
The Water Knife by Paolo Bacigalupi
Bacigalupi’s second novel for adults came out last year, but I haven’t had a chance to read it and it is currently at the top of my “To Read” list. I enjoyed his first novel, The Windup Girl, a futuristic environmental sci-fi story set in Thailand. The Water Knife follows in the same genre with environmental themes, but takes place in a future western U.S., where water is in short supply.
Death Star Bluetooth Speaker
This speaker makes a great gift for the Star Wars fan. Pretty appropriate with Rogue One coming out.
Simpli Home Acadian 9 Cube Bookcase from Hayneedle
I badly need a bookcase. Right now most of my books are scattered around my apartment in random stacks that I pretend are decoration or tucked in random drawers. This an inexpensive find that matches my black couch.
Final Fantasy XV for PS4
Obviously.
Little Women on Blu-ray
One of my favorite film adaptations came out on blu-ray this month and since I can’t find my DVD copy, I decided to put this one on my list.
Pokémon Sun and/or Moon
I actually bought myself a little early Christmas present in “Pokémon Moon”. It has been a lot of fun so far and makes for a great gift for any DS-ers in your life.
Uprooted by Naomi Novik
Another book that came out last year (I’m a little behind), Uprooted won a Nebula for Best Novel. This is a fantasy novel about a girl who is taken from her village by a “Dragon”. It sounds like a fun read and has received a lot of praise.
NES Classic Edition
This definitely falls under the “covet” category, since I have had no luck getting my hands on one. Apparently Best Buy and Amazon are going to restock this nostalgic Nintendo console in limited quantities. Fingers crossed.
