A few years ago a YouTube trend sparked in adapting classic literature into modern vlog-style webseries. The first of these to really take off was The Lizzie Bennett Diaries, a contemporary adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, where the fictional Lizzie sets up a vlog as a class project and talks to the camera about her family and life. Other characters interact with her as well. Many other series followed in this style.
One of my favorites was The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy, an adaptation of Peter Pan, on YouTube channel EpicRobotTV. The series came to YouTube two years ago and the fun, lighthearted story brought all the wonderful characters of the original novel to life in modern form.
After the series ran for two seasons, there was some question as to whether a third season would go into production. The show creators and cast did some serious crowd funding and promotion through their channel and social media. About ten months ago these videos stopped and I wasn’t sure if a third season was coming and, frankly, forgot about it.
Then two months ago, out of nowhere, EpicRobotTV began releasing season three. I haven’t watched this new season yet because I want to re-watch the first two seasons, but I’m excited to see how the story will end.
Here’s where it all began:
